Hair In Motion of New York Salon & Spa

Hair in Motion of New York Salon and Spa (HIMNY) has three locations throughout the greater Orlando area. The salon is run by the distinguished cosmetologist and successful entrepreneur: Lesline Powe-Barton.

In 2014, Lesline was ready to step into the next stage of her career: owning & operating her own salon. Unfortunately, she was unable to secure funding from traditional banks. Lesline turned to BBIF Florida (BBIF) with her passion and a business plan. At first, BBIF could not provide her with a small business loan. She needed to improve her financial profile first. BBIF welcomed Lesline into the CEO Training Roundtable.

The BBIF team acted as mentors for Lesline. They held her hand through the process of providing the documents required to apply for a loan. Before she knew it, her loan was approved and she opened her flagship salon in the buzzing area of MetroWest.

Lesline is well known for her faith, passion, and heart of service for her community. She has grown the HIMNY brand in just a few short years. She has 3 successful salon locations, an apprenticeship training program. Additionally, she’s in the process of establishing the first African American owned beauty school in Orlando!

HIMNY is a great example of how black businesses thrive and reinvest in their communities when given the proper tools they need to succeed.
Lesline Powe-Barton is the proud recipient of the 2019 Eagle Award from the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida.

“BBIF helped me understand that running a business is not only about passion, but also about understanding my business financials as well. More than just providing me with loan capital, the Technical Assistance monthly roundtable has been invaluable. The team of consultants acts  as my mentors and keep me accountable.  I’m grateful to BBIF Florida.  They have played an important role in helping in me reaching my business goals!
